Rad Reading – November

This month I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K Rowling. In the book, we follow the story of an eleven year old boy named Harry Potter. Harry is a wizard, but he does not know it. Since his parents died, he was taken in by his aunt and their family and they hated magic and magical people. Since they knew Harry was magical, they also hated him and abused him. When Harry turned eleven the magical school for people of his kind called Hogwarts, sent in letters to enroll him. His aunt and uncle were enraged by this and tried to hide them, but there were too many. Following this, they left the house and went to a hidden location to hide. The principal’s helper, Hagrid, eventually found them and told Harry that he was a wizard and then took him away to go to school. On the train to school Harry meets Ron and they become best friends. They meet Hermione following this, but they are not too fond of her as they believe she is a Know-it-all. Before being sorted, Harry meets a blonde boy named Draco Malfoy who offers to befriend him. However, Harry declined his offer. Later in the novel Harry and Ron learn to become best friends with Hermione and they have fun together. After his first flying lesson and standing up to Malfoy, Professor McGonagall sees his talent and appoints him as the new seeker for Gryffindor. As the year progresses, they learn about an object called the Sorcerer’s Stone. They then learn that bad people have gotten to it and with their hard work and determination through trials and tribulations with one another, together they protect it from villains and save the day.

I liked this book because not only was it incredibly entertaining, but it immerses you in the story as well. You feel like you are there with the characters and it really helps you paint a picture of what it is like there and how life is for the trio. Also, this book teaches a lesson that you should always stick by your friends no matter what.

My favorite character is Hagrid. Hagrid is a very loyal character. One quote that proves this is “Never insult Albus Dumbledore in front of me”. This quote proves that Hagrid is loyal because he protects Dumbledore from being hurt and he defends Dumbledore. He aggressively makes sure that this doesn’t happen again, or at least not in front of him.

My favorite quote from this book is “It’s Wingardium LevioSA, not LevioSAR”. This quote is meaningful to me because it shows how much Hermione cares about academics. As someone who also cares about academics, I can relate to this quote. It also shows how Hermione wants everyone to strive to do their best. I also want this so I can relate to this quote even more.

The Master

I swim through the cold water while I see other fish swimming around me as if they are urgently running away from someone or something. I don’t really care. I feel my stomach growl as I race through the water desperately looking for a shrimp to eat. Then I remember the meeting I have to go to. That was why the other fish were racing to get to somewhere. I will be so late. Master big boy fish might even eat me! As I come to this realization I swim as fast as my stupid little fins try to carry me through the water. I arrive 5 minutes late. As I swim onto the beach I feel as if everyone is staring at me. Then it happens. Master starts screaming at me. I feel his hot breath knock me in the face like a wall. He screeches “I AM YOUR MASTER HOW DARE YOU BE LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I feel as if I can’t breathe. As I slip into my chair I feel horrible for what I have done.

Thankfulness

As we approach Thanksgiving, here are three things I am so very thankful for. The first thing I am thankful for is my best friend Kk (Kaitlyn). I am so thankful for her because she is always there when I need her, I feel like I can tell her anything and she would never judge. She makes me very happy as she is like a sister to me. Kk also introduced me to Taylor Swift. The second thing I am thankful for is Taylor Swift. I am thankful for her because her music helps me release my feelings. She is also something that me and lots of my friends can bond with. Taylor has music for everyone and every emotion. She helps people all around the world with her music. The third thing I am thankful for is Granna.(My grandmother) I am so thankful for my Granna because she always makes me feel like I am loved and she helps me with schoolwork. I know I can always say what is in my mind to her and she just listens whether it is good or bad. I know for a fact that she will never stop loving me. The fourth thing I am thankful for is my cat, Bernie. Bernie is always there when I am bored or sad. We play together when I am bored and he cuddles me and purrs when I am sad. Whenever I wake up in the night with a bad dream he is always right next to me to comfort me.

The Ultimate Wishes

A genie has appeared and has granted me 3 wishes. But what would I wish for. To start, I would wish to get whatever I want. I would wish this so that if I wanted more cats I could have them. I would also wish for world peace and to end suffering and sickness. I would wish to end this so that everyone can be happy and we could all get along. My final wish would be to live in my dream house that I described in a previous blog. I would live there with Taylor Swift and My best friend Kaitlyn, Riley, and Milena.
