My Gracious Grandmother

My grandma, Granna, is one of my most favorite people in the world. She is always so kind to me and always knows how to make me feel better. For example, whenever I am sad and crying she makes me or brings be food and takes me shopping or watches a movie with me which always makes me feel better. My favorite thing about my Granna is her laugh. Whenever she laughs it always makes me feel better no matter what is going on. She has a very deep belly laugh and whenever I hear it, I know it comes from her heart and she really thinks something is funny. I also love her sneezes. When she sneezes it’s never just one. She just keeps going and going and at first you think she is dying, but she isn’t. I also think it’s hilarious when she falls down the stars but is ok. It’s so funny how she tumbled down, I love so many things about my grandmother but these are some of my favorite things. One of my favorite memories from her is going to an ice cream place called Archie’s. I remember always walking there and pushing my baby doll in a stroller that Granna got for me. Another one of my favorite memories is when we were having a sleepover because my mother was in labor with my youngest sister, Ava. This memory occurred 3,010 days ago as of the day I’ve written this, May 8 2024. I remember waking up to Granna’s pacing and she was on the phone. Then she started crying and my little almost 5 year old mind had no idea what could be wrong. Then she told me that my baby sister was born. I was so happy it was a girl. These are just some of the amazing things my grandmother has done.

20% Project – Week 5

This week I am still on my journey through the wonderful but confusing and frustrating world of crochet. This week I didn’t really learn anything new, but instead I worked on my trifold and things I already know how to do. This week I accomplished starting my trifold and getting a perfect title for it. Throughout this week I did not really struggle with anything so it was a very good week. Since I didn’t learn anything new I think next week I will really have to push and start on my pattern. I do not think I will accomplish my goal of making a sweater. Next week I will try to make a magic ring and maybe a granny square and also finish my trifold so I will be ready for the night that I present my project. I really hope I can finish this project and achieve my goal.

Rad Reading – April

This month I read Family of Liars by E. Lockhart. This book is a prequel to the book We Were Liars that is also by E. Lockheart. The novel is about Carrie, the mother of Johnny, a character from the previous book, and her summer experience when she was seventeen on the private island. This book is written in Carrie’s perspective and it was like she was telling it from when it happened. (kind of like a diary). In this book it explains the relationships and hardships Carrie experienced during her summer. She also learns many secrets about her family. Similar to the first book, this book has a huge plot twist about 3/4 of the way through the book. I for sure never saw it coming at all by the way the We Were Liars book was written. I loved this book because of the huge plot twist that really drew me in. I also loved the romance between Carrie and another character that I can’t say because I don’t want to spoil this amazing book. My favorite character is Yardley because of how much she cares about her cousin Carrie. She also reminds me of my cousins Toby and Amelia. They are always so kind to me and always listen to my problems just like Yardley always listens to Carrie’s problems. My favorite quote from Yardley is “…and I told Penny off as well. I called her the b-word and the f-word and a lot of other words.” This quote shows how loyal Yardley is to Carrie because since Penny is also her family, it would be easy to forgive her but since Yardley is loyal to Carrie she doesn’t forgive Penny. My favorite quote from the whole novel has to be “I don’t even have my real face anymore, I don’t even know who I see in the mirror.” I love this quote because at first I thought Carrie meant she didn’t recognize herself anymore because of her jaw surgery, but after I thought about it now I realize that it is not just because of her jaw surgery, it is also because Carrie has changed so much and not just physically, but also mentally. I also loved this quote because it really made me think.

20% Project – Week 4

This week I have not yet given up on my journey to learn to crochet. This week I accomplished making a ball! I started by making a regular chain and then going back and then just chaining random things together until the ball got bigger and bigger. I am still really struggling with going back on my chains and I really need to find a pattern quick before time runs out. I might need to adjust my plan to giving myself more time to learn to go back while creating a chain. I also should work on this at home so I can also find a pattern for a stuffed animal. I might decide to get a Woobles because I saw that on the internet as an easy way to make a stuffed animal. Next week I think I will work more on learning how to go back and then on Friday finding a pattern and then starting to follow the pattern. I really hope I can get better at this but I just have to keep remembering that it is ok to fail and that has helped me not be so stressed about this project.

20% Project – Week 3

For my 20% project I am still learning to crochet. This week I was trying to get more comfortable with connecting chains. I accomplished connecting the chains even though it looked horrid. I was working outside and I think the fresh air helped me concentrate more and really focus on connecting the chains. Some of my struggles included trying to cut the string because I forgot scissors. I also struggled with making the connected chains look good. When I made the chain it looked very clumped up and knotted so I asked my friend who is good at crochet if it was supposed to look like that and she said no so I knew I did it wrong. It was also very hard for me to concentrate this week. Next week I will continue to work on connecting my chains and maybe finding a pattern to follow. Hopefully I can accomplish this next week!

My Fandabidozie Bedroom

Out of all of the rooms in my house, my bedroom is by far my favorite. I love my bedroom because it is just so cozy. My floral bedsheets are perfect for cuddling with my cat and getting cozy while playing Roblox in my bed. I also love to sit on my window seat when it isn’t covered with clothes and read my book while the window is open and the birds are chirping. I also love my purple walls and how my posters of many musicals that I have seen cover the walls. There are many little holes on the walls from thumbtacks though. Although I don’t have a television in my room, I can still watch movies and videos on my projector which is pretty much a television. I also love that in my room my cat, Bernie, always waits for me on the piles up clothes on the purple pillows that line my window seat. If only I had a fridge in there, I would never be able to leave because I also have a en-suite bathroom.

20% Project Week 2

I am still trying to learn how to crochet for my 20% project. This week I didn’t really learn anything new. I accomplished remembering how to make a chain and I started to make it thicker but then it broke and got stuck. I struggled with learning to make the chain thicker. It just keeps getting stuck and I don’t know what I am doing wrong. Next week I plan to continue learning to make it thicker. I will probably watch some videos to help me learn or I will ask my mom because she is my mentor and a very talented crocheter. I think I will have to use next week to learn and accomplish making a thicker chain. I really hope I can learn. I hope I don’t have to take three weeks learning to make it thicker. I just really don’t understand it and it gets so tight and hard to put the needle through and then pull the yarn through.

Joshua Tree

Every spring me and my dad and sisters go to Joshua Tree with a daddy/daughter camping group with all my friends. We start the day with getting some breakfast from the dads that made it. It is totally off the grid so we have to bring our own stuff. After we go through the line and get our breakfast, we head up to the rocks to eat our breakfast and watch the sun. Then we throw away our trash and get dresses for the day. After that we climb on the rocks until about 11:00 A.M. Then we get in the car and drive to the dry lake bed to shoot off rockets. It smells so good when they all shoot off. Then we drive over to a restaurant called Steak n’ Shake. This is my favorite place to eat and we only go there once a year! Then we head back to the campground and climb some more. Finally we have an epic dinner and roast marshmallows. Then we drift to sleep after a long long day of fun.

20% Project Week #1

For my 20% project I am trying to learn how to crochet. This week I learned how to make a chain. I accomplished making a really long chain but then I wanted to go back to make the chain thicker and I couldn’t. I struggled with getting the crochet needle into the stitches to go and make the chain thicker. I don’t need to adjust anything because I still got to my goal of learning how to make a chain for week 1. I think next week will be harder because I want to learn to go back and I struggled with that a lot this week. I might need a little more time next week to learn how to go back because it was really hard for me this week. I don’t really understand how to do it and I keep making my stitches to tight and I don’t know how to stop that. Hopefully next week I understand it a little more and get back on track.

The Best Dinner Ever

I have the opportunity to invite any three people of my choosing to dinner. The first person I would invite is my Grandma Sandy. She died before I was born and I’ve always wanted to meet her. My family describes her as a fun, loving, and cheerful person. The second person I would invite is Gilbert Blythe from the television show Anne with an E. I would invite him because in the show he is very nice and cute. I would love to look at him and talk with him. The third person I would invite is my best friend Mila. I would invite her because she could help me talk to Gilbert and help me make him my boyfriend. These are all the people I would invite to my dinner.
